MMIFW: Miami Metropolitan International Fashion Week: OOTN
Hi lovely people,

I instagrammed a picture of this look and got so many compliments that I decided to share it on the blog.

I've also just posted a brand new fashion video featuring some of the looks I wore while in Miami.

Believe it or not, this dress only cost me $2.50 from Salvation Army!!
When I saw this dress, I fell in love.
After washing it, it looked as good as new and absolutely fabulous!

This clutch is an old purchase. It makes appearances when I need something
 small, neutral, and sophisticated. :)

My shoes were purchased from Target on clearance for only $9.88

Mingling before the fashion show starts. :)

MY EXPERIENCE

The Good

For one, the whole concept of MMIFW is innovative. Showcasing fashion designs from all over the world is a wonderful opportunity for cultural enrichment.

I also loved the staff. The front desk staff greeted my husband and I warmly at the VIP reception. Although our press passes hadn't been printed up, we had no problem getting in, redeeming our drink passes and mingling with the other VIP. During the first night of the fashion shows we received our press passes at the door and were escorted into a huge atrium, normally a South Beach club during  business hours.

The Bad

Although the Miami Beach backdrop was the perfect setting for this fashion week, it lacked the style and elegance that it should have had.

One of the things I didn't like was the fact that the runway wasn't properly lit. It was hard to see the details on some of the designs and even harder to capture them on camera (hence, the lack of pictures on here).

In addition, the music that was played on the runway had vocals, and derogatory vocals, at that. The music traditionally played during a fashion show has minimal vocals, that are barely noticeable so as not to detract from the models.

I felt the music was so distracting it took my attention away from the designs. This was the 2nd annual MMIFW, so I will give the event coordinators the benefit of the doubt.

All in all, the fashion week was enjoyable. I believe that if they work on the finer details, this can grow to be one of the biggest events in the South Beach fashion community. I had so much fun in Miami  and made some great connections, so my trip was definitely worth it.

♥ Christian Fashion Week!! Part Un :)

This past Friday and Saturday, I attended the first ever Christian Fashion Week, held in Tampa, Fl. Words cannot express how much fun I had at this event but since I have nothing else at my disposal, I will attempt to put words to use!

Friday Night I attended a VIP reception with my husband Joe. As soon as we drove up to the location I knew this was going to be a sophisticated event. We walked into a lobby full of people waiting to gain entry into the main hall. In the middle of the lobby sat an ebony grand piano with an exquisite flower arrangement on top of it.

Once we stepped inside, we realized that the coordinators of this event went to great lengths to bring it to life. The ceilings and walls were draped with a light, creme colored fabric, ornate chandeliers hung from the ceiling, modern arrangements could be found throughout the room and the lighting was an intriguing red.

We spent the evening chatting and networking with fellow fashion enthusiasts and industry professionals.

The next evening, we attended the actual fashion shows. There is so much I could talk about but for the sake of your time I will instead post about some highlights.

I wore a soft-floral print dress, purchased a couple of years ago from Forever 21 and topped it off with a cream colored blazer, caramel-colored clutch, black & gold jewelry and my Nina pumps.

My hubby, Joe, kept it casual-sophisiticated and sexy in gray and red hues. ;)

On the next day, the night of the actual shows, I kept it simple, chic, edgy and trendy for my fashion show attire. I wore a black, fuzzy H&M sweater with silver threading running through it. I paired my sweater with a faux leather skirt, purchased from Target a few months ago, black tights and some glitter pumps, also purchased from Target. It was a Target kind of day, as my silver bag was also purchased from there. :)

Oh, yeah, my earrings are from H&M and my arm candy is a variety of different bracelets.

As we stepped into the main room, the runway immediately arrested us for a few minutes. It was amazing! It was all sleek lines and completely white, save for the CFW sign on the back panel. Exquisite!

Here are some of my favorite looks from the evening! For designer details and information please visit www.christianfashionweek.com.
